Chris joined High Tech High in the fall of 2002 as the network’s first Director of College Counseling. Prior to serving high school students as a counselor, Chris was the Assistant Director of Admissions at the University of San Diego where he led the university’s multicultural outreach initiatives and Educational Opportunity admissions processes.
For over a decade after leaving the USD admissions office, he continued to serve as an admissions committee member for the University of California, San Diego undergraduate admissions office. Throughout his time as a college counselor for High Tech High network, he has used this platform to serve as a voice for charter schools in various organizations that influence the college admissions process such as being a member of the Board of Directors for The Common Application, serving on the Western Regional Advisory Council for The Collegeboard, and sitting on National Advisory Boards for college/career management systems: Naviance and Scoir. Additionally, Chris’ experience has allowed him to shape admission practices for specific universities as he served on Counselor Advisory Boards for The Ohio State University, Minerva, Washington University St. Louis, University of Richmond, Colorado College, and Gettysburg College.
Chris received both his B.B.A. and his M.A. in School Counseling from the University of San Diego.
