Katie began working at HTH in 2005, initially for the central office, and later teaching reading, writing, social science, and special education. After serving as Academic Dean at High Tech Middle Media Arts, Katie moved into the role of Director of Special Education for the HTH schools, while earning her M.Ed through the HTH GSE. Katie is returning to HTH after working for the Institute for Entrepreneurship in Education, a nonprofit institute at the University of San Diego, where she engaged leaders and teachers in professional learning on topics including instructional leadership, project-based learning, and equity. Katie is passionate about creating inclusive, asset-based, transformative learning environments for students. Katie is a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach, she holds her B.A. in English and Spanish Literature from UCSD, and her M.Ed in School Leadership from the HTH GSE.
